Ray’s introduction to Disaster Operations on a national scale was quickly realized after starting with the
Red Cross shortly before Hurricane Sandy hit the New York, New Jersey coast in October of 2012.
Ray was instrumental in helping deploy resources after the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013 and was
part of Course Operations for the next 5 years (The Red Cross is responsible for staffing 24 of the 26
medical tents on the route)

Currently Ray has transition into the role of Senior Recruiter building partnerships with local
organization to help expand the mission

Prior to joining the Red Cross, Ray spent the early part of his career with TJX and Allmerica Financial /
Hanover Insurance in various System and Financial Analysis roles.

Ray has served over 25 years as a volunteer Firefighter / EMT retiring at the Deputy Chief rank, Scout
Leader and Youth Coach at the North Brookfield Sportsman’s Club

An avid photographer, Ray maintains the Quabbin Sports Facebook page with his images of local sports
and events. (Last weekend he photographed a trail ride so there are some pictures of horses along with
football) Ray currently lives in Oakham (east side of the Quabbin) with his wife and son with a daughter
at UMass, a cat that thinks he is a dog and a dog that is afraid of the cat!
