Guest Speaker
Pam Anastasi, District Governor
We were honored to have Pam Anastasi, Rotary District Governor, as our distinguished guest speaker. Pam presented us with a new small banner for the new Rotary theme - "Rotary Connects the World". Diversity and Unity work together to impact and make a change in our community.
Pam's top 3 priorities for the upcoming year are: #1 - Membership: Keep people engaged via Service Projects; #2 - Service Projects - find people's passions; and, #3 Public Image - the PR committee can help. "Come for the good we do, stay for the fun!"
Pam talked about her passion, which is ending polio in the world. She is partnering with the Lowell Spinners, and ticket sales from the Aug 8th game will benefit the cause. Charlie will send out a link to purchase tickets.
Also, in February, there will be a Polar Plunge, and if Pam raises $5000 she will take the plunge.
She also talked about the humanitarian trip to Guatemala, where Rotary will be funding a project to provide hygiene necessities such as wash basins, separate toilets for girls and boys, and other things we all take for granted. Volunteers are needed!
Finally, Pam discussed setting goals for our chapters, and the District Awards weekend, May 1-3, 2020, in Salem MA at the Hawthorne Hotel. All are welcome and encouraged to attend. Committees are forming, so let Pam know if you are interested.
