FEATURED SPEAKERS
WLPZ's Sonny Levine, Station Manager,
Scott Cloutier, Program Director, and
Carol Levine, Sales and Marketing
Sonny reviewed the history of how WLPZ came into existence. It started as the Mayor's brainchild in 2008, since he wanted a way to communicate important information to the community, especially after the massive ice storm that year. It was another 10 years before WLPZ was up and running! The process to obtain permits and licensing permissions was extensive. When Sonny got involved, he really took the reins and made the dream a reality.
Scott's main responsibility is to keep the programming in line with the station's mission to Educate, Inform, and Entertain.
Carol's primary focus is to raise funds to manage this volunteer-run organization. The City pays for permits and provides the facilities, but that barely scratches the surface of the budget. Annually, WLPZ needs approximately $5000 to operate, and that does not include unplanned expenses.
